DEFRA Chief Scientist

Professor Ian Boyd (St Andrews University) has been appointed by Defra (Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs) to be its new Chief Scientific Adviser. This means an incumbent with a strong marine background in this important position.

In his new role Professor Boyd will sit on Defra’s Management Board and will be responsible for overseeing the quality of evidence that the department relies on for policy decisions as well as providing Ministers with scientific advice.

This is highly relevant to VECTORS.
